At 24, Dr. Grossman moved to Santa Monica, California, with his wife and first baby. Viewing the Navy as a dynamic venue that would afford him a wealth of experiences, he enlisted. After completing a tour of duty as a Lieutenant in the Dental Corps and receiving the National Defense Service Medal, he was featured in major magazines as the poster boy for recruitment due to his nonprofit work. Homeless Not Toothless has received letters of commendation from President Obama, the Secretary of the Navy, and numerous members of Congress for its nonprofit efforts. Since 1991, Dr. Grossman has been practicing in Brentwood, California, where he has served over 15,000 patients, affectionately known to his loyal patients as “Dr. J.”
As a dental expert, he has been involved in over 1,100 dental malpractice, peer review, and injury cases, with a balance of 51% defense and 49% plaintiff cases. He has been published and written about in print, radio, and TV over 300 times. He is licensed in 42 states to testify as an expert witness on the standard of care.

He is currently a Professor at UCLA School of Dentistry (1995-present) and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at NYU College of Dentistry. As founder of the nonprofit Homeless Not Toothless (www.homelessnottoothless.org), he has enabled 140,000 homeless veterans, victims of domestic abuse, and foster children to receive over $11 million in pro-bono dental care since the organization’s inception in 1991.
