Endodontics

Endodontic care for state-of-the-art root canal therapy

When you need a root canal, you’ll be cared for by an experienced endodontist right here in our Brentwood office. Whether you need root canal therapy or retreatment, we’ve got you covered.

Root canal therapy or treatment is a simple nonsurgical procedure that can save natural teeth and prevent the need for an artificial tooth replacement, such as an implant. A root canal is necessary when the pulp (a collection of blood vessels at the center of your tooth) becomes infected. The pulp can become abscessed as a result of deep decay, a cracked tooth or trauma to the tooth. This root canal infection can cause swelling, sensitivity and pain in the teeth and gums.

Treatment

During your root canal therapy or treatment, our endodontist will remove the injured pulp, clean and disinfect the root canal, which is then sealed. This procedure usually involves only local anesthesia. And success for infected tooth treatment occurs for about 90% of patients.

Sometimes, a tooth that has received treatment may fail to heal or root canal pain may continue. The root canal pain may occur months or years after treatment. Bacteria may re-enter the tooth if the original procedure fails to remove all of the decay or leaves untreated and undiscovered canal areas. If so, endodontic retreatment may be necessary.
